We strive to become the best childcare
in St Ives Area

We spend 30% more budget in education to employ the BEST Teachers to give our children Top Quality Education.

1. EDUCATION

Our team of educators are highly qualified. Most of them hold Bachelor, Master’s or PhD degree.

The owner and management team are all educators, Profit is not our top priority!

We are a group of mothers and have worked in the early learning education industry for over 10 years.

We understand and have deep passion in early childhood education. We regularly meet and discuss about how we can provide better care and education for our children and to support their individual development.

We combine research-based practice and theories with innovative approaches to ensure each child is given the best opportunity to reach their potential. We are proud to offer specialised educational programmes and experiences that are tailored to each child’s individual needs. This includes  STEM Project, Secret Garden, Linguistic (Chinese, Spanish, Hindi), Creativity, School Readiness (Singaporean-curriculum based) and more.

2. CARE

At Mungarra Kindergarten St Ives, we strive to create a “community-like” environment for families and staff. We are much more than an early learning centre. We value the relationships we have forged with families and work hard to ensure that everyone feels right at home. We also provide an array of additional services to help families meet the needs of their children, including nutrition assistance, health and safety advice, and parental education.

Mungarra Kindergarten St Ives has a small group of dedicated and passionate early childhood professionals who comes from diverse cultural backgrounds, comprising of  Australian, Chinese, Singaporean background.

We recognise that children and families come from different culture background. Each family has their own needs for care.

We create an individualised plan for each child and their family, to cater for preferences or special requirements.

For example, we provide special dietary accomodations such as allergy diet, requests for warm water or no beef diet. We do provide an international menu to introduce food from different countries to their children.

We are a boutique centre and our staff to child ratio is above the department requirement.

2 weeks fREE orientation

We believe that a short orientation is not enough.

You can truly understand how your child spends the day in their “home-feel” daycare centre

Educational approach
for Different Ages Groups

The overall approach to education remains consistent throughout the centre. We feel children’s success towards their individual learning begins when they feel safe and supported for who they are as individuals. We see the child as a whole person and strive to accommodate and support them in all aspects of their learning and development. The children’s voices, interests and cultures form the foundations of each program.

BARN OWLS

- The Barn Owls forms the youngest age group within the service. The transition into care is an exciting milestone and one to be embraced. Educators cater to this age group with the utmost care as we commit to ongoing and open communication with families, an enriched and welcoming learning environment, one that bridges the gap between home and care.

SNOWY OWLS

- The Snowy Owls focuses on children's independence and emotional regulation. Children are guided and supported through a stimulating environment that is enriched with endless learning opportunities based on intentional teaching, child interest and spontaneous experiences. Children are provided with a warm and loving environment in which they feel been valued and respected, enabling them to begin to understand their sense of being and belonging.

CHESTNUT OWLS

– We support children’s readiness for school through intentional and planned experiences where children have countless opportunities to build upon one’s literacy and numeracy skills in a fun and informal manner. It is our primary focus to ensure children enter the next phase of their learning with the utmost confidence. Skills such as social and emotional, self-help and a willingness and proactive approach towards their learning are fundamental for each child’s success.

what we provide

Nutrition

The catering company work with nutritionists and dieticians and consult with national advisory groups to ensure the highest nutritional standards. In their six-week rotational menu, your children’s meals contain food from the five food groups recommended by the Australian Dietary Guidelines.

Munch And Move

We embedded this program to promote children’s healthy eating and physical activity, and limit small screen recreation. It supports the NSW Government’s priority of preventing childhood overweight and obesity by establishing sound eating and activity habits from an early age gives children the best chance of leading a healthy life and maintaining a healthy weight.

School Readiness

A comprehensive and holistic Kindergarten programme, in our opinion, is an essential part of a child's learning experience and when transitioning to school. We implement an in-depth school readiness program for 12 months of the year after the consultation with the local schools. School readiness is preparing the children for ‘big school’ and getting the individual prepared socially, cognitively, emotionally and physically.

STEM Program

STEM is an approach to learning and development that integrates the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The world economy is evolving. Current jobs are being eliminated as a result of automation, while new jobs are being created on a daily basis as a result of technological advancements. Every day, technological advancements change the way children learn, connect, and interact. STEM skills provide students with a solid foundation for success in school and beyond.

Sustainability

We have a commitment to become a more sustainable centre. We are using earth friendly and organic chemicals, and recycled/biodegradable paper towels and cloths. We raise environmental awareness through group discussions, classroom activities, healthy eating, gardening, and many other means. Both educators and children are learning about caring for their environment and respecting for the natural world. We utilise the composting system and grow our own vegetables and herbs in our veggie pod.

Inclusion Support

Our Inclusion Support Officer works closely with the centre manager and our KU inclusion support officer to ensure that all children are engaged in the weekly program and are participating to their maximum potential. The inclusion support officer also ensures that aboriginal perspective is embedded into our weekly routine to ensure children are learning about our nation’s first people. This program aims to build the capacity and capability of educators to address participation barriers for all children through implementing quality inclusive practices.
